We’re Delighted to Welcome Graeme Hall “The Dogfather” as Our Patron

We are incredibly proud to announce that renowned dog trainer and television personality Graeme Hall—best known as The Dogfather—has officially become a Patron of Essex Therapy Dogs.

This is a truly exciting moment for our charity, and one that means so much to our volunteers, supporters and the many people we work with across the community.

A Special Connection

Our journey with Graeme came full circle following a recent meeting on the set of Good Morning Britain, where he presented Essex Therapy Dogs with a national award recognising the incredible contribution of our volunteers.

After spending time together and sharing more about the work we do, Graeme didn’t hesitate when asked if he would consider becoming our Patron.

In his own words:
“I didn’t need to think about it… of course I would.”

Recognising the Impact of Therapy Dogs

Since launching in November 2021 with just five volunteers and ten dogs, Essex Therapy Dogs has grown into a thriving community of over 400 volunteers and nearly 400 dogs.

Every week, our teams visit care homes, hospitals, schools and community settings, bringing comfort, connection and joy to those who need it most.

Graeme immediately recognised the value of this work, describing it as being “in that category of special.”

He also spoke about the unique role dogs play in supporting people:
“There’s a real need out there and it really makes a difference. Dogs break down barriers—they don’t judge, and they bring people together in a really powerful way.”

Changing Lives, One Visit at a Time

Through our visits, we regularly see the extraordinary difference therapy dogs can make.

From helping individuals living with dementia reconnect with cherished memories, to supporting children in building confidence with reading, to encouraging communication in people who have not spoken for extended periods—these moments are at the heart of everything we do.

It is this impact that continues to drive our growth and inspire our volunteers.

Looking Ahead

Having Graeme join us as Patron is a huge honour. His support will help us raise awareness of the work we do, reach more people in need, and continue to grow our network of dedicated volunteers and wonderful therapy dogs.

As our Chair and Founder, Tina Jullings, shares:
“We are absolutely delighted that Graeme has agreed to become our Patron. His passion for our work and his understanding of the impact therapy dogs have is clear, and it means so much to our volunteers to have his support.”

We are so excited for what the future holds and are thrilled to welcome Graeme to the Essex Therapy Dogs family.
